exists in the project root, read it first. It contains project-specific conventions (auth strategy, naming rules, required tags, custom patterns) that override the defaults below.

Directory placement: if the user specifies a directory, use it. Otherwise:

Workflow

Bootstrap check — before anything else:

  2. Initialize the project:

  3. Configure MCP:

  4. Recommend VS Code extension — check if the user is in a VS Code-based editor (VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf).
    - If yes but Glubean extension is not installed → strongly recommend:
      ext install glubean.glubean
      . The extension turns VS Code into a Postman replacement:

Read the reference index — read references/index.md to see all available patterns, plugins, and SDK capabilities.
Read relevant patterns — based on the user's request, read 1-3 pattern files from

. For example: configure.md + crud.md for a CRUD test, or auth.md for API key setup. Also read sdk-reference.md if you need the full API surface.
Explore the API — use MCP tool

- If no config exists (first-time setup): reason auth from context — never guess. Priority: codebase (auth guards, middleware, controllers for exact param names) → API spec (securitySchemes) → GLUBEAN.md → ask the user. Use exact param/header names from the source. Never use placeholder names.
Verify auth is runnable — before writing tests, cross-reference auth requirements against actual credentials:

Fix failures — read the structured failure output, fix the test code, and rerun. Repeat until green.
